Standing Committees
OCTEVAW works towards its goals by welcoming member agencies, ex-officio participants, individual members and women survivors of violence to sit on and contribute to our four Standing Committees. Generally, each Standing Committee meets once a month. For location, date and time, please contact the OCTEVAW office.
- Accessibility and Outreach (AO) Standing Committee
Initiates and coordinates efforts to facilitate accessible participation and inclusion of all individuals and organizations within the community. - Advocacy and Public Engagement (APE) Standing Committee
Initiates and coordinates advocacy, public education and communication efforts designed to effect systemic changes related to women’s equality rights and to promote understanding of VAW issues within the community. - Justice Standing Committee
Initiates and coordinates efforts which focus on the safety of women and children who have experienced abuse, their legal needs and interactions with the legal system. - Front-Line Support (FLS) Standing Committee
Initiates and coordinates efforts to improve front-line VAW services in Ottawa through enhanced coordination and accountability.
The Standing Committee efforts must align with, and support the aims of the Coalition and correspond to the priorities and strategic plan outlined by the membership. Each Standing Committee is dedicated to the principle that its work must encompass all forms of violence against women, including domestic abuse and sexual violence, and embrace women in all their diversity.
